Heated debate in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska over the biography of Ana Trišić-Babić, Cvijanović stated it is in the greater interest for her to remain in the Presidency of BiH

(Patria) - In the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, the first item on the agenda caused heated debates between deputies from the ruling SNSD and the opposition.

Thus, national deputy Nebojša Vukanović read the biography of Ana Trišić-Babić, who was proposed to be the acting president of Republika Srpska. Other opposition deputies said that yesterday they received material on which Željka Cvijanović's name was listed for acting president.

She also addressed the assembly today, responding to Vukanović, and said that everything being done is aimed at protecting Republika Srpska. She also responded that Trišić-Babić did work for USAID, and that US President Donald Trump declared that organization the most notorious, which is why it was abolished.

"From 1997 to 1998, she was an assistant in the political department at the OHR and an advisor for international relations. Therefore, the right-hand person of Carlos Westendorp is being appointed as the president of RS. I cannot participate in such humiliation of RS, by appointing someone who has no legitimacy, not even of a local community, who worked for foreigners and USAID, which you call the most hostile organization," Vukanović pointed out.

The head of the SNSD deputies club, Srđan Mazalica, presented several more details from Trišić Babić's biography during the debate - that she graduated from law in 1991, was an advisor in the Government of RS, head of the working group for the Stabilization and Association Agreement, deputy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, and advisor to the president of RS and member of the Presidency of BiH.

During the session, a debate arose regarding the constitutional issues of the current session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, and the president of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, confirmed that the situation of appointing an acting president "is not recognized in the Constitution", and that everything not in the Constitution is resolved by a decision of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

Cvijanović addressed the deputies again, responding to false claims. She emphasized that they assessed it was in the greater interest for her to remain in the Presidency of BiH and that by appointing Trišić-Babić, they are overcoming the current crisis.
