Budget returned for revision: BiH Presidency did not accept repayment of 'Viaduct' debt from Central Bank funds

(Patria) - The BiH Presidency at today's session adopted a conclusion to postpone the consideration of the Draft Law on the Budget of BiH Institutions and BiH's International Obligations for 2025, Istraga.ba has learned.

The reason for this decision is that the BiH Presidency did not accept that the debt owed by Republika Srpska to the Slovenian company "Viaduct" be paid from the funds of the Central Bank of BiH.

The member of the BiH Presidency from the Serb people, Željka Cvijanović, did not vote for the adopted conclusions.

The BiH Presidency stated that the Council of Ministers of BiH did not adhere to the legally prescribed deadlines for submitting the Draft Law on the Budget to the BiH Presidency.

A conclusion was also adopted stating that the Presidency holds the Council of Ministers responsible for this.

The Presidency tasked the Council of Ministers to prepare an appropriate Draft Law on the Budget that will be in line with the adequate needs of BiH institutions and ensure compliance with the Law on the Central Bank of BiH, and to consider the legal and other arguments regarding the so-called seven cultural institutions of significance for BiH", i.e., to formalize their undisputed status as budget users and to provide funds for their financing in the new Draft Budget.

We remind you that the Council of Ministers adopted a conclusion on April 11 this year to pay the debt owed by Republika Srpska to the Slovenian company "Viaduct" from the funds of the Central Bank of BiH.
