Budnjo: Tihić is well, may attend party's Main Board meeting

The health condition of Sulejman Tihić, President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) is stable and he is feeling better, Alija Budnjo, a member of the SDA Main Board, confirmed to the BH news agency Patria (NAP).

He said that he spoke with President Tihić yesterday, and that Tihić confirmed that he is feeling well, moving around, and eating.

- I think the worst is over, and that now we can only expect the president to fully recover – Budnjo told Patria.

In the last few years, Sulejman Tihić has survived several serious illnesses and operations, recovering from some earlier this year and resting in his hometown of Šamac. However, last month his health condition suddenly worsened, after which he ended up at the UKCS in Sarajevo again, where he spent several days under intensive supervision of Sarajevo doctors. Tihić, as announced by UKCS at the time, complained of difficulty breathing and chest pain.

Tihić is now in better health. He also underwent examinations in Zagreb, where local doctors also confirmed his recovery, and if he continues to recover at the current pace, there is a possibility that he will attend the SDA Main Board session scheduled for June 24 this year in Goražde.

- He expressed his wish to be in Goražde for the Main Board session, and as things stand now, that will happen – Budnjo confirmed.

According to Patria's findings, the Main Board will most likely not discuss candidate lists for the upcoming elections in BiH during the session in Goražde, although their formation has already begun, but criticism due to internal disagreements within the party is not excluded.

Some members of the Main Board have, as we were told, already expressed dissatisfaction with the work of the Election Headquarters, headed by SDA Vice President Asim Sarajlić, given that he wants to bring SDA closer to the Alliance for Better Future.

- The majority of SDA members expect the party to go to the elections alone with its program, without rotten compromises and coalitions. Anything else could jeopardize the election results – one member of the Main Board told NAP.
