(Patria) - The Civil Protection Administration of KS has issued a warning to legal and natural persons to take preventive measures for protection and rescue from strong winds and heavy rainfall.
"Given that the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a yellow warning for strong stormy winds in most of Bosnia and Herzegovina and locally heavier rainfall in the north and east of Herzegovina and in Krajina for tomorrow, 20.11.2024., and that wind gusts of 60 to 80 km/h are expected, and in the morning hours in Krajina up to 90 km/h, and that the expected amount of rainfall is between 30 and 50 l/m2, and locally up to 70 l/m2, which may also affect the KS area, we warn all legal and natural persons to immediately take the necessary preventive protection measures against strong winds and heavy rainfall (prepare adequate forces and material-technical resources for rapid response to the announced strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall) in accordance with their jurisdictions and obligations prescribed by the Law on Protection and Rescue of People and Property from Natural and Other Disasters, in order to protect the health and lives of people, as well as material and cultural goods. This will create conditions for a more efficient and faster response of all subjects of the protection and rescue system to potential challenges and threats from strong wind gusts and floods, and thus avoid major material damage, as well as possible injuries and loss of life.
We especially appeal to legal entities carrying out construction work not to leave objects that could fall from roofs, scaffolding, etc., due to strong winds, thereby endangering the safety of passers-by.
We also appeal to fellow citizens not to leave objects on their balconies and other open spaces that could endanger the safety of passers-by due to the wind, not to park their vehicles near large trees, and to avoid excursions and spending time in nature during the period of the yellow warning.
We especially appeal to municipal civil protection services from the KS area to immediately put their organized protection and rescue forces on alert, so that they are ready as first responders to react in accordance with their jurisdictions and obligations according to protection and rescue plans to potentially strong wind gusts and heavier rainfall in their municipalities.
We remind the mentioned subjects that they are obliged to immediately report any danger or occurrence that could lead to a natural or other disaster to the Cantonal Operational Center of Civil Protection at phone number 121, which operates 24 hours a day, every day, as soon as they notice or become aware of it," the KS Civil Protection stated.
