Rail traffic in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be operational on all sections from today, after being suspended for the past seven days due to floods that damaged the railway line in several locations in the FBiH, confirmed for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) Vlado Budimir, executive director of railway infrastructure of Željeznice FBiH.
He said that the damage to the railway lines in the FBiH caused last Tuesday amounts to around 500,000 KM, while the Railways lost around 100,000 KM each day of train traffic suspension.
On the section from Mramor to Brčko, where I am currently, the situation is a bit more difficult, so we do not know when we will be able to restore that part – says Budimir for NAP.
Since August 5, all rail traffic from Zenica to Maglaj, i.e., to Doboj, as well as traffic on the line from Mramor to Brčko, was completely suspended, causing millions in material damage to Željeznice FBiH.
- The damaged sections of the line have now been repaired to the extent that trains can operate, but additional efforts will be needed to restore the line to its original condition – said Budimir, writes NAP.
