Budimir Pushing Prcić for Securities Commission

The President of the Federation of BiH Živko Budimir has still not proposed a list of new members for the Federation of BiH Securities Commission to the FBiH Parliament, the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) has learned.

The reason for this, as we have learned, is a disagreement with Vice Presidents Svetozar Pudarić and Mirsad Kebo regarding the appointment of the new composition of the influential commission.

Its job is to supervise the financial market in BiH, and due to the expiry of the mandate of the current composition, the functioning of the securities market in BiH has been blocked for months. Through authentic interpretation of the law, its work has been unblocked, but new members must still be appointed.

According to Patria's sources in the FBiH presidency, the blockage in the appointment occurred due to Budimir's insistence that Denis Prcić, director of the American-Bosnian College in Sarajevo, be appointed to the new Commission, and as its president. Budimir reportedly said there was no discussion about Prcić, which was not acceptable to one of the two vice presidents.

Sources in the FBiH Presidency claim that Prcić is, in fact, a lobbyist and intermediary, and as such is not an adequate candidate for the Securities Commission, which must protect the market and the interests of citizens.

It is unofficially claimed that there is also an active criminal complaint against Prcić for attempted extortion of a commission from the FBiH Government regarding business in defense production, but we have not been able to get confirmation of this from the authorities so far.

At the same time, Prcić, as the head of the American University, has strong connections, especially due to the fact that among the students at that university are a significant number of children of influential people, politicians, and businessmen.

As previously reported by the media, 33 candidates applied for the position of members of the Securities Commission, including three current members Milorad Rajlić, Matej Živković, and Hasan Ćelam. Among the applicants are also Kemal Čaušević, Zlatan Dedić, Tarik Kurbegović, Huso Sarić, Abid Šarić, Ivica Knezović, Ekrem Čagalj, Ivanka Galić, Adi Ahić, Niko Dujo, Esma Hamzagić, Adnan Zukić, Elmir Jahić, Mladen Miletić, Jasmina Polić, Lana Mujanović, Marko Šantić, Ognjen Samardžić, and Edin Gičević.
