Brutality of the Warden of "ekran.ba Prison" or "Marching Fascism"

More than six months ago, I wrote about the identity of the people hiding behind the portal Ekran.ba. It turned out to be the Association for the Development of Academic Freedoms (URAS), headed by Samir Arnautović, a full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo.

On the list of that association is a list of undesirable public figures whom they daily subject to mobbing, discrediting, provocations, and the most brutal insults, not sparing even their dead. Allow me to borrow sentences from Ekran.ba to more faithfully depict what is actually being done on that portal: „Of course, in the style of the Goebbels school of information, the “anonymous” authors of obscure fascistoid texts tried to deny the existence of this list.

We have no doubt that they would, if they could, deny the existence of the mentioned public figures as well, but to their misfortune and the satisfaction of the “undesirables” and those who have respect for free behavior and expression, i.e., resistance to fascistoid consciousness, the targets of these attacks are in good shape and pay no heed to the threats and attacks directed at them.“. Samir Arnautović, who as president of the association is legally responsible for all texts written on that portal, recently published the latest sniper material.

In the introductory part of that material titled „Brutality of the Warden of the “UNSA Prison” or “Marching Fascism”, he first writes about the injustice that befell Fahrudin Oručević, claiming that the plagiarisms were planted against him. Hmm, claiming that something vividly presented is actually nothing but a construction is more than bold.

But, this is not the first bold claim by President Arnautović. Further in his text, he lynches Sifet Kukuruz, who, apparently, found some minor machinations by the “undesirable” Professor Arnautović. I publicly exclaim: “That Sifet Kukuruz is a liar and a fraud. He destroys the careers of honest UNSA professors.”

Arnautović still does not have enough characters to reach the climax of his (own) Ekran text. He also drags a certain Izet Mašić into the plot, although his problems began before the last convocation of the Rectorate, but the president does not care about that. Another hero is introduced before the climax. Armin Škrbo! And finally, we reach the climax of the story. To Samir Arnautović, to whom, the unfortunate one, „everything is disputed.” First and foremost, „through similarities in translations, paraphrases, and notorious textbook formulations, they want to (anonymously!!!!) prove plagiarism.”

Oh, but how can it be anonymous when the text full of links and visual examples of Arnautović's plagiarisms is signed by Sanja Vlaisavljević. That text was published on three web portals, two blogs, and dozens of Facebook pages. Last summer, I wrote just one sentence, signed with my own name, that Professor Samir Arnautović borrows other people's thoughts, but at that time I did not want to deal with that phenomenon further.

Eh, well, it was still a sufficient reason for Professor Arnautović to sue me in court „for slander.” So be it, that's how it should be. Who forced me to write just one sentence merely hinting at plagiarism, a hint full of good will to address that a bit for the benefit of the academic community. For the benefit of students and the rule of knowledge. Perhaps I should have immediately listed the examples I had come across then. But since I didn't, let me be in court. However, neither then nor now was this by any means anonymous.

I know that Professor-President Samir Arnautović views the world around him exclusively from his own perspective, so he does not sign any text with which he lynches all those who come into his sights with his own name on his portal Ekran.ba. It seems that he only signs court lawsuits against his targets and other people's stolen sentences with his own name, but it doesn't matter, that's his choice.

I don't recall ever reading a single text of his. Or that any Ekran text in which he lynches people was signed. He does it just like that, as brazenly as he attributes to others „anonymously.”  But well, let's return to the accusations against the eminent thinker.

Here is a small, incidental reminder for all of us regarding the claim of President-Professor Arnautović that he is being accused of „similarities in translations.” Similarity is certainly not the same as „being copied,” but in Professor Arnautović's case, it is actually about copying other people's translations, and where he simulated similarities, he mistakenly left phrases taken from the original translation from which he was copying. Well, I wouldn't want the professor to „fume with rage,” but I believe that by reading all those numerous analyses of his plagiarisms, he will ultimately understand what it is actually about when „similarities” are carelessly assembled. Oh, how saddened I am by the mention of paraphrases.

Paraphrasing is not the same as plagiarizing, but only under one condition. That we cite the name of the author we are paraphrasing. But Professor Arnautović almost never does that, and that is by definition plagiarism. Everywhere in the world, including here. And when he calls upon „notorious textbook phrases” as an example of fabrication, I have the feeling that he is, actually, joking with us readers. Well, fortunately, there are philosophical chrestomathies in all available libraries, and the latest book by Professor Arnautović, „Contemporary Philosophy and Its Legacy,” is also available.

By comparing the chrestomathies and Arnautović's book, the following is observed: Arnautović uses the same „notorious phrases” as the authors of the chrestomathies, has the same train of thought, uses the same quotes, and often uses the same literature as they do, only they are nowhere to be found in his literature. I would add something else that Professor Arnautović omitted to mention as one of the accusations against him. Directly copied sentences. Literally. That is the most brutal example of plagiarism, and we find it in countless examples in his works. Well, I would also add citing quotes from other people's footnotes, offering them as his own quotes. When, in addition, there is no year of publication, page number, and publisher's name, then the plagiarism is obvious. And, lo and behold, we also find that in Professor Arnautović's works.

It is touching how he deceives his readers by claiming that the accusations come anonymously, but suspects the Vlaisavljević family. No one needs suspicions anymore. Sanja Vlaisavljević signed the texts „SDP Machinery Plagiarizes and the NGO Sector,” „Plagiarists Plagiarize Plagiarisms,” and finally this one you are reading. So, anonymously behind this text stands the owner of this blog, whose name is prominently displayed on the blog's front page.

Eh, for years Samir Arnautović has been accusing Ugo Vlaisavljević of being an (auto)plagiarist. For such a claim (slander), for which Samir Arnautović sends people to court, not to be a mere delusion, it would be good for Professor Arnautović, using his fluent French, to prove it. Piece by piece. Here is how I show him that he is a plagiarist. And I sincerely look forward to a new lawsuit for slander that Professor Samir Arnautović is a notorious plagiarist by all definitions of plagiarism.

Professor Samir Arnautović likes to diagnose others. True, always only one. But constantly repeating the same thing is actually a symptom. Saying, for example, that someone is a schizophrenic is a symptomatic act. And let's not even mention „fascistoidness,” which is the hallmark of Arnautović's texts. Constantly dealing with someone's name change under war conditions is simply primitive and more than a nationalist outburst, at least in the case when Samir Arnautović does it by dissecting the name of Ugo Vlaisavljević whenever he lacks the strength of argumentation.

Changing a name for „creating something new” can also be creating conditions for avoiding certain death, for example. But that is not, nor should it be, a topic for a philosopher who has solved all questions of metaphysics. It should not be for anyone. Privacy issues are privacy issues. That is a fundamental ethical postulate. Imagine someone now publicly bidding on Arnautović's privacy. Come on! But, nevertheless, the pinnacle of Arnautović's primitivism is raising Ugo's father from the grave.

Just imagine what necrophilic urge must overcome someone to dig through other people's graves. Arnautović did that by pulling a gold tooth from the jaw of Ugo's father to help him in his written word. But paranoia and conspiracy theory cannot be far from behavior like Arnautović's. He knows that Ugo was a collaborator of secret police, just as he claims for me. Ideas about solving cosmic questions, metaphysical ones, the work of secret services, all these ideas are found in texts for which Samir Arnautović should be legally responsible, but we equally find them in examples of paranoia. How many similarities there are between Freud's Schreber and Arnautović!

Now, whether this is some coincidence or not, I cannot claim, but perhaps some expert will read this text, so there's a task for them. And somewhere near the end of the text on Ekran.ba, Arnautović says that Ugo Vlaisavljević is depicted as a split personality. How could he not be. I would be too. Such obsession with Ugo, Ugo's family life, Ugo's wife, Ugo's career, Ugo's parents in the eyes of Samir Arnautović, Ugo must be depicted as, actually, a multiply layered personality. And finally, just to repeat, I look forward to a new lawsuit for slander that I „falsely” accuse Samir Arnautović of plagiarism.
