Bruce G. Berton new Head of the OSCE Mission in BiH

Ambassador Bruce G. Berton today took over the duties of the Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, the OSCE announced, reports Patria agency.

Ambassador Berton began his diplomatic service with the United States of America in 1987, and has served in Sofia, Caracas, Moscow, Bermuda, Hong Kong, Rome, Mexico City, Frankfurt, and Warsaw.

He also served as supervisor in the State Department's Operations Center, as well as Director of the State Department's Office of Management Innovation. He is the recipient of numerous State Department awards.

For the past two years, Ambassador Berton served as the Principal Deputy High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Supervisor for the Brčko District.

Ambassador Berton will continue to work on achieving the key obligations of the OSCE Mission in BiH with the aim of building sustainable democratic institutions, strengthening good governance and the principles of human rights protection, as well as providing support for the development of an inclusive society.

Ambassador Berton succeeded Ambassador Jonathan Moore in this position - the OSCE announced.
