Numerous events within '514th Ajvatovica Days', ceremonial opening on June 14

(Patria) - This year's religious and cultural manifestation '514th Ajvatovica Days' will be held from June 14 to 30 and will offer a rich program, it was announced today at a press conference held on the Ajvatovica plateau in Prusac.

On this occasion, the president of the Organizing Committee of the manifestation, Mufti of Travnik Dr. Ahmed-ef. Adilović, the Mayor of Donji Vakuf Municipality Huso Sušić, and the chief imam of the Islamic Community Council (MIZ) Donji Vakuf Amir-ef. Čavak addressed the attendees.

„I am pleased to announce to all interested parties the start of this year's manifestation, a manifestation that is highly esteemed, significant for the tradition, culture, and identity of our people. Being the 514th manifestation, its duration speaks to its importance. Lovers of Ajvatovica from all parts of our homeland, as well as from abroad, gather when our program contents are realized. This year, we can joyfully announce that there will be more than 60 events, of which 29 are cultural, nine religious, nine sports, eight educational, and six humanitarian. A rich program, a quality program, and we hope interesting for all lovers of Ajvatovica and lovers of good, lovers of our tradition, culture, and homeland“, said Mufti Adilović.

Chief Imam Čavak also pointed out the significance of the manifestation and invited all interested parties to attend the program contents.

Mayor Sušić stated that they strive to treat Ajvatovica as it deserves, and accordingly carry out numerous activities.

„This year we had major investment works, when it comes to Donji Vakuf, which will change the image of the city. We have implemented several more projects that affect the accommodation of horsemen, but also people who visit Ajvatovica.

We are doing everything to make life more pleasant for our fellow citizens, and thus for all our guests who visit Ajvatovica“, he stated.

The ceremonial opening program of the manifestation is planned for Friday, June 14, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Musalla in Prusac, and the central program will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024 on the Ajvatovica plateau, starting at 11:00 AM.

Within the manifestation, numerous religious contents, book promotions, plays, exhibitions, round tables, forums, sports competitions, and many other events are planned.

Ajvatovica is the largest prayer site of Muslims in Europe and one of the oldest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, deeply rooted in the identity of Bosniaks. Today, it is a meeting place for tens of thousands of Muslims.
