Number of vaccinated in KS is higher than 51 percent because not all citizens vaccinated outside BiH have registered

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to the Vaccination Bulletin of the Sarajevo Canton Public Health Institute, a total of 172,127 residents of our canton have been fully vaccinated to date. Of these, 171,211 people are over 18 years of age, which represents 51.7 percent of the population over 18 years of age.

This is data collected through the Information System of the KS Health Insurance Fund, based on which a weekly vaccination status report was compiled.

As stated, a total of 282,571 doses have been administered in Sarajevo Canton institutions.

Of the total number of fully vaccinated individuals, the largest group belongs to the 36-45 age group, with 33,047 or 19.20 percent, while the smallest number of vaccinated individuals are those aged 18-25, of whom 11,783 or 6.85 percent have been vaccinated. The Institute points out that 916 people under the age of 18 have also received both doses of the vaccine, which constitutes 0.53 percent of the population.

According to the latest data from the KS Public Health Institute, 107 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 disease. Of this number of patients, 25 are fully vaccinated, which represents 23.36 percent of those hospitalized, while 76.64 percent of those hospitalized are unvaccinated.

The KS Ministry of Health reminds that all adult citizens of Sarajevo Canton can receive the third dose of the vaccine at all points in health centers in KS or at points in shopping malls. It is important to note that those who received the first two doses outside of Sarajevo Canton can also receive the third dose, but they need to register their first two doses in the KS Health Insurance Fund system.

“We note that for individuals who have recovered from Covid and were then vaccinated with both doses of the vaccine, there is currently no recommendation for receiving the third dose,” state the KS Ministry of Health, which also published recommendations for the timing of the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine, which are found in the tables.

The Ministry emphasizes that 51.7 percent of the population in Sarajevo Canton has been vaccinated against coronavirus, which is a much better result compared to the rest of FBiH, given that only slightly more than 20 percent of the population has been vaccinated at the entity level.

The number of vaccinated individuals in Sarajevo Canton, as well as in the rest of the country, is higher because official reports do not include all those who were vaccinated in other countries. Some citizens have not reported to the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina that they were vaccinated abroad.

According to data from the Our World in Data website, 41.3 percent of the population in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been vaccinated with one dose, while 22 percent of the population has been vaccinated with both doses.

The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health calls on citizens to adhere to the measures in force, primarily mandatory masks and maintaining distance in enclosed spaces.
