Brkić: PIC Steering Board session discussing referendum postponed

The meeting of ambassadors of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) Steering Board will not be held tomorrow as previously announced, confirmed Mario Brkić, spokesperson for the OHR, for the Patria news agency.

He said that additional consultations are underway.

 -More information about the next session of the PIC Steering Board at the ambassador level will be available soon, Brkić emphasized.

High Representative Valentin Inzko announced that a PIC session would be held tomorrow (August 23) to discuss the decision of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NSRS) scheduling a referendum on Republika Srpska Day for September 25.

The OHR previously stated that the referendum is against the Dayton Peace Agreement and that it effectively pushes Republika Srpska into isolation.

-On Monday we have some meetings with PIC members. Some requested these meetings to prepare well for Tuesday, and we will see what will happen at that session, Inzko said yesterday.
