British MPs vote on Brexit today

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The burden of Great Britain's fate is today on the deputies of the British Parliament who are deciding on the proposed agreement on the separation of London and Brussels.

Great Britain may never leave the European Union if MPs reject the proposed agreement, Prime Minister Theresa May warned last week.

"British MPs will have to either support the Brexit deal or reject it," May concluded, with the message that in that case, "no one knows what will happen."

Brexit, according to the British European Union (Withdrawal) Act adopted last year, is scheduled for March 29 this year.

The agreement was rejected in January, with the main reason cited being the so-called backstop, a safeguard mechanism that the EU insisted on at Ireland's request, which aims to ensure that the border on the island of Ireland remains open after Brexit, even if London and Brussels fail to agree on a free trade agreement.
