British Ambassador on Tuzla: A Beacon of Hope That Can Serve as a Progressive Example for Other Communities in BiH

(Patria) - British Ambassador to BiH Julian Reilly visited Tuzla today, where he met with religious leaders committed to interfaith respect, tolerance and harmony, actively participating in promoting stronger community ties.

Reilly welcomed the efforts of Fr. Željko Nikolić, priest Miloš Trišić and hafiz Ahmed-efendija Huskanović to foster positive relations and mutual respect, jointly celebrating major religious holidays and serving to build peace and connectivity in their local community.

He also spoke with the Mufti of Tuzla, Vahid-ef. Fazlović, about how to further spread these positive attitudes and values of religious leaders.

The ambassador said that, in the context of interfaith respect and tolerance, Tuzla is a beacon of hope that can serve as a progressive example for other communities in BiH.



He also met with the Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton, Irfan Halilagić, President of the Assembly Žarko Vujović, Chairwoman of the City Council Nataša Perić, and Secretary of the Tuzla City Administration Almir Šuta, who informed him about the current political and economic situation and how local authorities can work together to improve the lives of their residents.

Representatives of local civil society organisations shared with the ambassador their successes, priorities and activities, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing non-governmental organisations in Tuzla.

At the invitation of the Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton, Reilly attended an event organised for primary and secondary school students of Tuzla Canton, marking today the birth and death anniversary of the great English playwright and poet William Shakespeare.
