(Patria) – The British Health Minister has tested positive for coronavirus, causing fears of a possible spread of infection within government ranks.
Nadine Dorries (62) is the first member of parliament to be diagnosed, and before learning of the infection, she attended a reception at the government headquarters with the Prime Minister, his pregnant fiancée, and other high-ranking officials.
Dorries is at home, in self-isolation, and addressed the public via Twitter, thanking them for their well wishes, hoping that 'the worst is over'. She says she is worried about her 84-year-old mother, who has also started coughing.
Otherwise, the number of infection cases in Great Britain has jumped to 373, with six fatal outcomes.
At the same time, the world continues to face the still insufficiently researched virus: Turkey has registered its first case, Austria has closed its borders to all those coming from Italy, where another 168 people have lost their lives.
Slovenia has announced the closure of its border with Italy, which French President Macron called a 'bad decision'.
The Secretary-General of the Spanish right-wing party Vox has tested positive for coronavirus, which was determined after he participated in a mass gathering.
Iran has reported another 54 deaths.
The President of the European Parliament has announced that he will work from home for the next 14 days, and France has announced that matches in the 1st and 2nd football leagues will be held behind closed doors until April 15.
A total of 113,255 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered worldwide, and 3,964 people have lost their lives as a result. More than half of the infected have recovered, writes Euronews.
