Brigadier Fako with Commander of Operation 'Althea' Houdet on Security Situation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Head of the Military Part of the BiH Mission to NATO based in Brussels, Brigadier Edin Fako, met on March 2, 2022, in Mons, Kingdom of Belgium, with the Commander of the European Union operations - Operation 'Althea', Lieutenant General Brice Houdet, who is also the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe – SHAPE).

While European security as a whole is threatened by the war in Ukraine, Lieutenant General Houdet emphasized the importance of peace and stability in this region, and especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Having said that, he stressed that as the operational commander of the EU operation 'Althea' in BiH, he is very determined to engage EUFOR's capabilities to prevent any attempts at possible actions that would lead to instability in BiH.

On behalf of the BiH Minister of Defense and the Chief of the Joint Staff of the BiH Armed Forces, Brigadier Fako took the opportunity to thank the Commander of Operation 'Althea', Lieutenant General Houdet, for the support in the donation of 10 million euros for the demining battalion of the BiH Armed Forces.

In addition, Brigadier Fako, on behalf of the BiH Minister of Defense, extended an invitation to Lieutenant General Houdet to visit defense institutions in BiH.
