Brestovac acquitted of crimes in Doboj

The District Court in Doboj acquitted Vojislav Brestovac of crimes committed against civilians in that city.

Brestovac, a former police officer in Doboj, was acquitted of charges that on June 20, 1992, in the settlement of Miljkovac in Doboj, he participated with Cvjetko Šarčević in the murder of Muharem, Muhamed, and Ismeta Aldobašić, BIRN reported, as conveyed by the BiH news agency Patria.

- It was not disputed for the Court Panel that the accused, as a member of the Public Security Station Doboj, was at the checkpoint in Miljkovac, said the presiding judge Snežana Banjac-Lopandić.

The prosecution based the indictment on the testimony of Petra Aldobašić, who passed away in 2012, the sole eyewitness, who saw the perpetrator in poor light - said Banjac-Lopandić.

There is a possibility to appeal this verdict to the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska.
