Bregu: Politics must address citizens' concerns and deliver results quickly

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Majlinda Bregu spoke today in Sarajevo with the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, about regional cooperation, particularly in light of the expected results of the Western Balkans summit within the Berlin Process, which will be held in July this year in Poznań, namely a new regional roaming agreement and an agreement on mutual recognition of professional qualifications for doctors and dentists, as well as architects and civil engineers, the RCC announced.

Bregu thanked Dodik for the support he provided for Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the new regional agreement on lowering roaming prices.

The two officials agreed that both agreements are of great importance for the region, given that citizens of the Western Balkans directly benefit from them.  

"Citizens' concerns regarding the current economic situation are clearly expressed in all editions of the Balkan Barometer so far, given that 63 percent of respondents said they are dissatisfied with the economic situation. I believe this is the clearest indicator that politics must work on addressing citizens' concerns and, in that regard, deliver results quickly," said Bregu.

Bregu and Dodik also discussed the priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina as chair of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and preparations for the upcoming SEECP summit. The Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed the full support of the Presidency for the work of the Regional Cooperation Council and regional cooperation, as well as commitment to the processes of regional cooperation and the format of the South-East European Cooperation Process.  

The meeting with Dodik is part of the political consultations of the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council in the Western Balkans and South-East Europe. Consultations in Bosnia and Herzegovina have so far been held with the Chair of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović, and the Chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić.
