Brčkalo: Dodik wants to protect his skin with a referendum

If you observe Dodik from the beginning of his political career to the present day, you will see that he has gone from being a social democrat, a unifier, who called for Bosnia and Herzegovina to have only one president, to the completely radical side, so now you are listening to his statements about a referendum on secession, a referendum on the BiH Court and Prosecutor's Office..., says Miroslav Brčkalo, a PDP MP in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, in an interview with the BiH news agency Patria.

- However, nothing like that is surprising – warns Brčkalo, a young politician who has grown from the president of the local PDP in Pale to the loudest critic of Milorad Dodik's regime.

- The national narrative is all Dodik has left – he has destroyed the economy of Republika Srpska, destroyed healthcare, destroyed the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, everything in Republika Srpska is on its knees... And Dodik has no answers to any of these life issues – they want to increase our electricity prices – and all he has left is this story about a referendum, secession, independence. Unfortunately, he still manages to float politically to some extent on that story – says Brčkalo.

And the whole story about the referendum on the BiH Court and Prosecutor's Office, which has been shaking the political space of Bosnia and Herzegovina for months, Brčkalo explains, is not Dodik's concern for the citizens of Republika Srpska, but rather saving his own skin.
Brčkalo reminds that the BiH Court and Prosecutor's Office do not only deal with crimes, but also with economic crime, and Dodik would gladly gain full control over this part of the judiciary in the country.

The opposition, says Brčkalo, has filed seven criminal charges with the Special Prosecutor's Office in RS in just a few years due to the theft of the Birač company, Bobar banka, Robna kuća Boska, the Fokus newspaper, Šume RS, Hidrogradnja... However, thanks to the authorities, Dodik still manages to keep the charges in drawers.

That is why, he reminds, Dodik was most affected by the loss of power at the state level. With the appointment of Dragan Mektić as the BiH Minister of Security, processes began that could cost Dodik dearly.

- Goran Zubac, the former director of SIPA, was Dodik's man. Now, someone needs to be appointed who will dare to dig into the crime committed by SNSD cadres and their partners, and Dodik is afraid of that. That is why he will try in every way to enter the government instead of the Alliance for Change – says Brčkalo.

When asked how he comments on Dodik's accusations that the Alliance for Change has betrayed RS in the BiH Council of Ministers, Brčkalo says that Dodik and his team are not against Bosnia and Herzegovina as they claim, considering that Prime Minister Željka Cvijanović's son is employed at Eletroprenos BiH, Nikola Špirić's son works in BiH intelligence agencies, and the daughter of another high-ranking SNSD official is employed at the Central Bank of BiH, writes Patria.
