Brčko cyclists set off on Brčko – Srebrenica marathon on Friday

Around 15 cyclists from the Sports Society „Distrikt“ from the Brčko District will set off on Friday on the 4th cycling marathon Brčko – Srebrenica, which is about 160 km long, to pay tribute to the Bosniaks killed in Srebrenica on July 11, 1995, reports the Patria news agency.

The cyclists will gather at the Youth Square in Brčko, proceed to the monument to members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatian Defence Council, where they will recite a fatiha and pay respects to the fallen soldiers. The marathon starts in front of the City Hall.

Participants will pass through Brezovo Polje, where Bosniaks and Croats were captured at the beginning of the war, Bijeljina, Janja, Zvornik, all the way to Konjević Polje, where they will be joined by members of the cycling marathon from Bihać and Slovenia. In a joint column, they will enter the Potočari Memorial Centre.

It is expected that more than 500 cyclists from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region will attend this year's commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.
