Bradara forgot that HDZ BiH blocked the government 4 years ago

President of the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Lidija Bradara (HDZ BiH), speaking about holding a session of this house at which the leadership of the Federation should be elected and a decision on temporary financing adopted, stated that her party is not interested in jeopardizing the functioning of the FBiH, writes Istinomjer.ba, as reported by the Patria news agency.

"We believe that this will happen, and our common position is that we will in no way jeopardize the functioning of the FBiH, nor the issue of budget beneficiaries and the Federation, because neither HDZ BiH, whose representative I am, nor the Club of the Croatian people did so in the previous period," said Lidija Bradara.

However, the part of the statement in which Bradara claims that HDZ did not jeopardize the functioning of the federal government during the previous term is, to say the least, untrue. If we go back a few years, to the period when the "platform" Government of the FBiH was formed in 2011, consisting of the SDP, SDA, HSP, and NSRZB, we can see that Bradara's claims simply do not hold.

Namely, the platform agreement was fiercely criticized by HDZ BiH and HDZ 1990, who deemed it unconstitutional, and for five months after the elections, they refused to elect delegates for the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH in the Livno, West Herzegovina, and Posavina cantons, where they had won the majority of seats in the cantonal assemblies.

The stalemate in forming the government in the FBiH resulted in a decision by the Central Election Commission, which determined that the elections for the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were not conducted in all ten cantons in accordance with the provisions of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that the conditions for constituting the House of Peoples were not met, and the election for the President and Vice Presidents of the Federation of BiH was annulled. This decision was suspended by a decision of the OHR, and the executive authority in the Federation of BiH was eventually formed.

Thus, it is clear from this that it was precisely HDZ that, during the constitution of the previous convocation of the Government, was the main lever of obstruction, given that they, in a situation where they were in opposition, refused to appoint delegates from two cantons to the House of Peoples, while in a position where they will participate in the work of the FBiH Government, they claim the complete opposite.

Also, the newly elected President of the House of Peoples was inconsistent in an interview she gave to prvi.tv a few days earlier, precisely regarding the obstructions of her party in the previous term.

"Well, I think the House of Peoples should be dynamic, I expect all other parties to get serious. It was already seen tonight that there is a lot of politicking. I hope they will leave politicking at the door of this House and that the House of Peoples will be a true House where decisions will be made, and not a training ground for expressing some political frustrations, and I also expect the opposition to be responsible in this entire process," said Bradara.

Namely, after the constitution of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the FBiH, a problem arose with the appointment of the Vice President of the FBiH from the ranks of the Serbian people, where the Serb club in this house has still not appointed a candidate for that position.

The President of the Serb Club in the House of Peoples, Slaviša Šućur from the SDP, said that the candidate will be appointed as soon as the collegium of this club puts four signatures on the decision on the name of the candidate, which was assessed by Bradara in this case as politicking. In this regard, if we know how the formation of the FBiH Government proceeded in the previous term, Bradara's statement about politicking in the House of Peoples is inconsistent, given that HDZ, as the opposition at the time, was precisely the party that, due to politicking, blocked the process of forming the government, and later attempted to enter the FBiH Government on several occasions.
