Bradara withdraws request for constitutionality assessment of the South Interconnection Law

(Patria) - FBiH President Lidija Bradara has withdrawn the request for constitutionality assessment of the Law on the "South Interconnection Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia" gas pipeline, and proposed the suspension of the procedure before the Constitutional Court of FBiH.

Bradara claims that after submitting the request, new relevant circumstances arose that changed the context of the review of the relevant Law.

"The South Gas Interconnection project has entered a phase of more intensive institutional coordination of competent authorities and strengthening of international cooperation, with a clear commitment that its realization takes place in accordance with international standards of energy security and infrastructure management," stated the Office of the FBiH President.

At the same time, it is added, processes of further normative harmonization and clarification of competencies within FBiH have been initiated, which opens up space for all open issues to be resolved through the regular legislative and institutional process.

"Diversification of natural gas supply routes and sources remains one of the key strategic issues for FBiH, and the South Interconnection project plays an important role in strengthening energy security and economic development," Bradara said in the statement.
