The Bosniak people legitimize themselves with the Bosnian language

On the occasion of February 21 – International Mother Language Day, the director of the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada issued a public statement, reports the Patria News Agency.

-The Bosnian language is founded on hundreds of years of history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has called itself Bosnian throughout history and it is, primarily, the language of the Bosniak people and all those who perceive Bosnia and Herzegovina as their homeland.

The Bosniak people legitimize themselves with the Bosnian language. There is no phenomenon of consciousness through which the Bosniak past, present, and future are better reflected than through the Bosnian language. The name Bosnian language is also an aspiration towards Bosnia and Herzegovina because it originated on the land of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, denying the Bosnian language is ridiculous. This denial is an ideological-political, not an academic or scientific matter.

The Bosnian language is also the language of the Bosnian spirit and the ideas of Bosnia, which are best expressed in and with that language. Precisely because of this, attempts are being made to destroy and disrupt the Bosnian-Herzegovinian response to the future realization of man and civilization, the spirit and idea of Bosnia, thought through the Bosnian language.

Twenty years after the genocide in Srebrenica, the greatest crime in Europe after World War II, and 20 years after the Dayton Agreement which has prevented the functioning of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian state and which legalized aggressive genocidal goals, thus leaving room for new aggressive genocidal attacks on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosniaks, as free people, as a free nation, as free citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Europe, cannot protect their cultural, human, and linguistic rights and freedoms.

In the crudest and most brutal way, in the smaller Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity, Bosniaks are still denied the right to be what they are, to think and speak the language they think and speak.

On International Mother Language Day, we say to all those who deny the Bosnian language: The Bosnian language is an indisputable, scientifically based, historical, and cultural fact.

Bosniaks, as a European nation with their state in Europe, who do not want borders or walls between peoples and cultures, have the right to name their language Bosnian. The Bosnian language was, is, and will remain a key dimension of Bosnia and Herzegovina, making it more unique than all other countries with a common linguistic and spoken substance, according to the statement signed by Ramić.
