Bosniak Appeal to Turkey: Bosnia is being broken apart, preventing conflict is a humanitarian duty

SARAJEVO, (Patria) Numerous Bosniak and Balkan non-governmental organisations in Turkey have sent an open letter to the government calling for support for Bosniaks in the political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Plans are being made and an environment is being created for the breaking apart of the country,” these organisations warn in their letter, stating that recent statements by the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, are concerning, “especially those about forming an army” in the entity of Republika Srpska.

“Given the bitter experiences the international community has left in these areas, Bosnia and Herzegovina has no other support, friend or confidant besides Turkey. The support of our homeland is the greatest strength of Bosniaks from Bosnia and Sandžak,” the letter states.

As stated, it is evident that “a bullet fired in the Balkans would drag the region onto an irreversible path.”

“Preventing this is above all a humanitarian duty,” it is stated.
