Bosniaks in Lincoln bought an abandoned church and made a mosque!

Young Bosniaks from Lincoln in the United States of America (USA) bought an abandoned church and turned it into a mosque, the local newspaper Lincoln Star reported, according to the BH news agency Patria (NAP).

The feat of the young Bosniaks from this city fascinated the newspaper's journalists, who describe how they organized themselves into the group "Sabah" and collected money themselves to buy the abandoned church, and adapt it into what is now, as emphasized, a beautiful mosque.

Melisa Sarajlić and Senada Gušić, who are interviewees of the Lincoln Star reporters, point out that they collected nearly $200,000 back in 2008 to secure a prayer room, or mosque, for the Bosniak community in this city. Finally, the works were completed only last year, and the mosque was opened.

- Our parents arrived here because we were expelled from Bosnia and Herzegovina. And then they pursued the American dream here, but they quickly realized that they must not lose touch with their faith, culture, and tradition - said Sarajlić. First, they rented a room for a prayer room and eventually secured a space for a mosque.

They emphasize that the congregation of the Sabah mosque are mostly young students who gather there, spreading peace and organizing various charitable projects.
