Bosnalijek marks 65 years of successful operations

The largest BH pharmaceutical company Bosnalijek is celebrating 65 years of successful operations this year. From a modest drug manufacturer, which started its activity back in 1951, Bosnalijek today is not only the pride of BiH but also a recognizable brand in 13 countries worldwide.

A ceremonial reception was held at the Sarajevo City Hall, and an interesting sand play performance vividly depicted the development of Bosnalijek.

In 2015, Bosnalijek recorded over 122 million KM in sales revenue, representing a multi-million increase compared to the previous year. It also continues to record a positive trend in export markets, where in 2015 it achieved 79 million KM, or 65 percent of total sales revenue.

- We follow global trends and operate in step with them. We expanded our assortment with 48 new products. The rise of the global self-medication trend prompted us to produce dietary supplements. Currently, we have eight pharmaceutical-grade dietary supplements on the market. We also placed 29 new prescription drugs and 11 over-the-counter drugs on the market – says Bosnalijek director Nedim Uzunović.

Creating new jobs and developing experts is one of Bosnalijek's strategic focuses.

- Currently, 847 workers are employed, almost half of whom have a university degree. In the last two years alone, we hired 86 new employees – added Uzunović, emphasizing that they believe in themselves and the quality of the products they sell worldwide.

In the year it celebrates 65 years of successful operations, Bosnalijek is pleased to highlight the fact that various levels of government in the country have finally recognized the potential and importance of domestic manufacturers and made a positive step forward in their treatment.
