Bosnia and Herzegovina ready to send aid to Slovenia for flood damage recovery

(Patria) - Civil protection agencies from Bosnia and Herzegovina are ready to send aid to the Republic of Slovenia for the recovery from catastrophic floods that have affected the country. Slovenia, through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, has sent a request for assistance after severe weather and heavy rainfall that flooded numerous facilities and damaged roads.

At the initiative of the BiH Minister of Security Nenad Nešić, a meeting was held today at the premises of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina with representatives of the Civil Protection Administration of Republika Srpska and the Federal Administration of Civil Protection, where the possible method and scope of assistance were discussed.

In its request, Slovenia asked for assistance with heavy machinery necessary for clearing the terrain in the flooded areas.

The Civil Protection Administration of RS and the Federal Administration of Civil Protection expressed their readiness to send available machinery with crews for terrain clearing, and Minister Nešić will submit a proposal to the Council of Ministers of BiH for a decision on sending international aid.

Pontoon bridges were also requested, and considering that the Armed Forces of BiH possess them, Minister Nešić forwarded this request to the Ministry of Defense of BiH for further action.
