Bosić for NAP: The issue of Serb equality in Canton 10 has been resolved earlier

BiH, (Patria) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Mladen Bosić (SDS) has submitted a request for an assessment of the constitutionality of the constitutions of cantons in FBiH that do not recognize the constituent status of the Serb people, nor the Serb language and Cyrillic script.

At today's press conference, he stated that he expects the Constitutional Court to seize the opportunity to show that it protects the provisions of the Constitution and ensures equal treatment and rights for all three constituent peoples, Serbs in five cantons in FBiH, just as it has been resolved in the Constitution of FBiH and the Constitution of BiH. 

The House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina recently adopted the initiative of Denis Bećirović, by which the House of Representatives of the PSBiH calls on the competent authorities of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Canton 10, West Herzegovina Canton, and Posavina Canton to amend and supplement the constitutions of the mentioned cantons with the aim of ensuring the constitutional equality of Serbs, as well as to specify and ensure the constitutional equality of the Bosnian and Serb languages, and the Latin and Cyrillic scripts in the cantonal constitutions where this has not been done so far.

Representatives of SNSD and HDZ BiH voted against such an initiative.

Bosić's request submitted to the Constitutional Court of BiH states that the authorities in Posavina Canton, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Bosniak-Podrinje Canton Goražde, West Herzegovina, and Zenica-Doboj Canton are asked to urgently amend the "unconstitutional provisions and, through adopted amendments to the cantonal constitutions, recognize the constituent status of Serbs as a people, with full equality of the Serb language and the Cyrillic script as the official language and script in the listed cantons." 

Bosić stated that the Serb language is not mentioned in five cantons in FBiH.

Canton 10, which is mentioned in Bećirović's initiative, is not listed in Bosić's request for an assessment of constitutionality.

"That issue in Livno Canton was resolved by Amendment 5," Bosić told the Patria agency.
