Borovac: Stop shameful activities of genocide denial

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Genocide denial is the final phase of its commission, and this is precisely what we are witnessing and what is being carried out by the highest representatives of the authorities of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity of Republika Srpska, stated the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees, Semiha Borovac, on the occasion of the so-called international conference where irrelevant organizers gathered unknown speakers with only one goal - to minimize and deny the genocide in Srebrenica, which has been proven and confirmed in court proceedings and verdicts of the Hague Tribunal, the International Court of Justice, and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina...

"What is concerning is the fact that the leadership, or rather the authorities, of the Republika Srpska entity are recognized in these efforts. Instead of being leaders in the process of building reconciliation, mutual trust, and respect for human rights, they have put themselves in the service of retrograde policies that, by minimizing and denying, attempt to refute historical facts, all under the guise of searching for truth and reconciliation," Borovac stated.

She emphasized that the failure of such endeavors is guaranteed and that the civilized world has seen through them and distanced itself from them.

"The lack of even a minimum of understanding or respect for the families of genocide victims and numerous other crimes that the official authorities in the Republika Srpska entity deny, while simultaneously openly glorifying convicted war criminals, is particularly offensive. This is most keenly felt by returnees to the Republika Srpska entity, where life is made unbearable for them, and where verbal attacks from the highest levels of government turn into actions on the ground, and we increasingly witness attacks, inappropriate messages, and graffiti," said Borovac, emphasizing that the will to return is strong and has resisted even greater blows so far.

Borovac concluded that all of the above confirms the necessity of adopting a law prohibiting the denial and minimization of genocide crimes, as well as prohibiting the activities of fascist organizations such as the Ravna Gora Chetnik Movement and similar ones.

"Therefore, I call on the leadership of the Republika Srpska entity and all those who deny genocide and other crimes to stop these shameful activities, as it is high time they started respecting the human rights of all citizens in our country, especially the victims and their families who deserve reverence," stated the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
