Borjana Krišto with US Officials: Euro-Atlantic Integration Remains Key Goal

(Patria) - Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto met today in Sarajevo with representatives of the United States administration – Brendan Hanrahan, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Europe, and Mark Fleming, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe.

As announced by the Council of Ministers of BiH, the meeting is a confirmation of the strong partnership and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America.

Krišto informed the US officials about the latest activities and achievements of BiH on the path of European integration, emphasizing that Euro-Atlantic integration remains the main foreign policy goal of our country.

– The path to membership in the European Union brings the adoption of European norms and standards to which we aspire. The laws and reform steps adopted so far, as well as the full alignment of BiH's foreign policy with the EU, confirm our commitment – stated Krišto.

She particularly emphasized the need to adopt a new, fair Election Law of BiH that would remove existing forms of discrimination and facilitate the implementation of the rulings of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the European Court of Human Rights. This, as she said, would contribute to the stabilization of relations among the constituent peoples, especially in the Federation of BiH.

The meeting also discussed strengthening economic capacities and the security sector, which has been further improved through the signing of an agreement with the Frontex Agency.

It was concluded that the institutions of BiH and the US administration will continue cooperation on all important issues, with the aim of strengthening peace, stability and prosperity, both in the region and across the European continent.
