Borenović: Parties will receive a compilation of all proposals for electoral reforms during the evening

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Asked if a written solution for electoral reform was offered during today's negotiations with the American-European delegation Matthew Palmer and Angelina Eichhorst, PDP leader Branislav Borenović told N1 that parties will receive a compilation of all proposals for amendments to the Election Law during the evening.

“This is a compilation concerning the technical part of the Election Law, and it will be prepared with the assistance of the international community. We are talking about two types of reform here - a technical one that should prevent abuses of the election process and restore citizens' trust in the election process, and the second concerns the political dimension and is much more sensitive. This is the part concerning the election of the members of the Presidency and the implementation of European court rulings,” Borenović stated.

He added that he saw significant optimism from the representatives of the US and EU, but that he would maintain a degree of caution.

According to him, the situation is clear for parties from Republika Srpska - the member of the Presidency is elected directly from Republika Srpska, and it is one electoral unit.

“The issue here is how to solve the problem in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A major challenge is the issue of the Houses of Peoples and their filling. The most important message is that the elections will be held, regardless of whether there is reform or not,” Borenović stated.
