(Patria) - BiH Parliament Deputy Branislav Borenović (PDP) stated today for BHRT that he will resign if he is elected as Deputy Speaker at tomorrow's session of that house.
He reiterated that the PDP, together with its coalition partners SDS and the List for Justice and Order, will decide who will hold the position of Deputy Speaker.
- No one will dictate to us who will be our representative in the Collegium of the House of Representatives or the House of Peoples, or in the Council of Ministers of BiH, especially not the SNSD.
We will make that decision within the opposition, if a concept of a potential agreement on where this country should go is created.
In case my colleagues elect me tomorrow out of some empathy, I will resign immediately, in accordance with the Rules of Procedure.
I do not want to be a pawn of either Dodik or the SNSD, I do not want to tarnish myself and my political party with their perfidious political games.
We are not interested in advisors, privileges, money, or official cars until we see if we can deliver, if nothing else, at least three or four very simple things on which there should be agreement - said Borenović.
He announced a meeting for this evening of the PDP, SDS, and List for Justice and Order parliamentary clubs with leaders of opposition parties in the RS, where they will discuss the current situation and whether they will also propose holding a special session at tomorrow's session of the House of Representatives.
In a live interview for BHT1, Borenović emphasized, among other things, that it is the obligation of BiH politicians to do something useful for the citizens.
He listed four key goals on which agreement must be reached and without which there will be no entry into government: reducing VAT on certain products, halting controversial public procurements, introducing new technologies into electoral legislation, and a strong turn towards the EU path.
- We said - yes, we are ready, but not at any cost, not just to occupy one or another seat for the sake of the seat and privilege.
But exclusively if an agreement is made to reduce the VAT rate in this country for a certain group of products, such as basic foodstuffs, medicines, or baby equipment, from 17 to five percent.
If we make an agreement to stop scandalous public procurements, to proceed with amendments to the BiH Election Law, and if we continue the European path, strongly and dedicatedly, in the interest of all people living in this country - he added.
According to him, this can be achieved in the next few months.
- If there is agreement on that, we are in, and then we will implement it with the people we appoint in the coming months.
The Troika has clearly indicated that it is ending the coalition with the SNSD. We are talking to political parties these days, and we will also talk to the HDZ.
We will talk to the SDA and DF to see what their position is, but it is quite logical that we are looking for an alternative. That is our right.
The worst thing is to silently watch from the sidelines. The opposition is doing something, we want to be a factor. But a factor that will do something - says Borenović.
He reminds that the opposition has five hands in the House of Representatives and two in the House of Peoples.
- We are waiting to see if it is possible to get a sufficient number of votes that will have a general majority when it comes to the entire PSBiH, when it comes to potential partners in the FBiH, whether there is a sufficient number of hands that together with us will form a majority and where we will agree on what needs to be done in this country - concluded Borenović.
