Fighters from Tuzla Canton and Podrinje: Stop the legal violence against the defenders of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - The Coordination of Veterans' Associations of Tuzla Canton and veterans' organizations from Podrinje strongly condemn the legal violence being perpetrated against former fighters of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina who are going through the agony of repeated hearings for alleged war crimes.

- We demand that the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić, return the cases for alleged war crimes under the auspices of the State Prosecutor's Office, and be aware of the agony through which those who defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina with their lives during the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina are going - states a joint press release after a press conference organized by the Coordination of Veterans' Associations of TK.

They emphasize that in 2018, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina transferred many war crimes investigation cases, allegedly committed by Bosniaks, to the level of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijeljina.

- Some of the investigations date back to 2010, and the suspects have not been notified that any investigation is being conducted against them, and now the Bijeljina District Prosecutor's Office is summoning and questioning them as suspects - it is stated.

They remind that previously such cases were handled by the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, precisely because of their sensitivity and the fact that former fighters of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially those who survived the genocide committed against Bosniaks in Srebrenica on July 11, 1995, do not trust the work of judicial institutions from the RS entity, claiming that their legal security has been jeopardized, it was announced.
