Veterans still block important roads in FBiH: Give us the veterans' register, veterans' allowance

BiH, (Patria) - Hundreds of former veterans have blocked several roads in the Federation of BiH, dissatisfied with the authorities' treatment of the veteran population.

The blockade has been ongoing since the morning hours, and at 16:15 traffic is suspended at the following locations:

- the intersection of main roads M-4 and M-17 in the village of Karuše,

- M-17 Žepče-Zenica (in the village of Donja Golubinja),

- the mountain pass Ivan (M-17 Sarajevo-Konjic),

- the Šićki Brod interchange (Tuzla) and

- the Blatuša interchange (Zenica)

- the Vogošća interchange (Sarajevo).

The protests were previously announced by the former commander of a company in the 211th Brigade of the Army of BiH, Sulejman Fejzić Fejza, who died three days ago, but his death did not prevent his fellow soldiers from taking to the streets today. They carried his pictures and said they would not give up on the goals Fejza strived for.

Chilled veterans gathered around a lit fire in Vogošća to warm up, but they say they will not give up until three basic demands are met: the veterans' register, the cessation of funding for all veterans' organizations, and the veterans' allowance.

Several veterans' associations earlier announced a blockade of roads, border crossings, and protests in front of the building of the Government of the Federation of BiH if the House of Representatives of FBiH does not schedule a session by today to discuss their demands.
