Veterans Hand Bukvarević Petition for Non-Recognition of Basic Veterans' Associations

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Symbolically at 11:55 AM, a petition for non-recognition of basic veterans' associations was handed to Salko Bukvarević, Minister for Veterans' Affairs of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

The petition was signed by nearly 200 veterans from the municipality of Ilijaš, and the petition was handed over by Emir Palić.

- Other municipalities are working on similar petitions, and they will submit their signatures – said Palić, emphasizing that the marking of important battles, which attract very few people, should be monitored.

- We do not recognize the associations that are around the minister and Šerif Patković – said Palić.

This morning, he also handed a petition to the mayor of Ilijaš, Akif Fazlić, for the cessation of funding for veterans' associations from the municipal budget, which was signed by nearly 300 veterans and citizens of Ilijaš.

- In Ilijaš alone, there are 14 veterans' associations and another two that are not verified. In four years, about one million KM has been given from the municipal budget. Through what they launder money, we will see – emphasized Palić.

Demobilized veteran from Bugojno, Nazil Velić, said that this morning they were also in front of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they were told that Edin Mušić, Chairman of the House of Representatives, is not at work due to a death, but they still demand that a session of this house be held urgently and that the Law on Veterans be adopted, which will include amendments from demobilized veterans who are protesting in front of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- We will come on September 5 with tents and all necessary equipment and we will not leave the front of the Parliament building until such a law is adopted – said Velić.
