Workplace Blockade: Will the Court End the Agony of 80 Workers and 800 Clients of Agency Poslovnost

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Eighty workers of the accounting firm Poslovnost have been unable to access their workplaces or fulfill obligations to 800 clients for five days due to physical obstruction of access to the building where the company is located. 

Attorney Elmedina Bojičić, who represents the firm Poslovnost, told Patria that on Friday they requested a temporary measure from the Municipal Court in Sarajevo to allow workers access to their workplaces, and a decision is expected today. 

„If that decision is not made, we will then seek a security measure. The company is suffering huge losses and cannot fulfill its obligations to clients,“ Bojičić said. 

The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Mario Nenadić, confirmed to Patria that he has become involved in this case and that the company's lawyers have taken further steps. 

In front of the concrete blocks placed in front of the Poslovnost building, workers gathered on Friday and also on Sunday with their families. Among the employees are a large number of families of martyrs, demobilized soldiers, and persons with disabilities. 

The concrete blocks were placed by the company Brend d.o.o. due to a property dispute pending before the Municipal Court. Although the dispute has not yet been resolved, Brend acted arbitrarily and blocked the passage for workers of the Agency Poslovnost. A security company has also been hired to prevent the movement of Poslovnost workers. 

Attorney Bojičić explains that in this case, all declarations on human rights and the Constitution have been violated due to the prevention of access to property, the right to work, disruption of work, and the right to freedom of movement, which should have prompted police intervention, but this did not happen. 

From the Agency Poslovnost, they emphasize that for more than 25 years, they have been filling the budget of the same institutions that now refuse to protect their business. 

„A company that fills the budget with over 100,000 marks every month through taxes and contributions. A company that has never been late in paying salaries to its employees, nor has a single convertible mark of debt in contributions towards its employees. Every day of work prevention causes immeasurable damage to the business,“ the company states. 

Solely due to obligations to clients and the documentation they need, workers have entered the company over the past few days using portable stairs from the bank of the Miljacka River. Images and videos that are a disgrace to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the arbitrariness of individuals have circulated throughout the region.
