Fugitive Zoran Galić finally relieved of duty as SIPA deputy director, has no right to severance pay or benefits

(Patria) - At today's session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Galić, who has not reported to work since July 8 and is in Croatia, was relieved of his duty as deputy director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

"Zoran Galić is no longer the deputy director of SIPA. He was relieved of his duty as of July 8, 2024, and by the conclusion of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he is denied the right to severance pay or any other benefits because a fugitive sought by prosecuting authorities does not deserve benefits," announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković.

According to Patria's information, Galić was dismissed at his own request for early relief due to fulfilling the conditions for a pension.

Galić evaded arrest for abuse of office and accepting gifts, for which he is charged by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He illegally crossed the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, and in August a red notice was issued for him. Croatia refused to extradite Galić given that he has dual citizenship.

The Independent Board is expected to soon announce a competition for this position, which will again be filled by a candidate from the Croat community.
