Fugitive Galić in SIPA Deputy Director Position for Third Month, What is Nešić Doing?

(Patria) - It has been the third month since Zoran Galić has been on the run from the BiH judiciary, and he still holds the position of Deputy Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA). Galić is accused of abuse of office and receiving a bribe while he was the director of the BiH Border Police.

Galić has not been coming to work since July 8th, nor is he in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As stated by Chief State Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić, he illegally crossed the border and fled to the Republic of Croatia, of which he is a citizen.

Although he failed to obtain sick leave, and then annual leave to justify his absence from work, his legal team ultimately submitted a request for early dismissal due to meeting the conditions for retirement. However, ministers from the Bosniak constituent people do not want to support such a request. In the meantime, the Court of BiH has issued a red Interpol warrant for Galić.

The Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH has not initiated disciplinary proceedings against Galić, nor has it precisely proposed Galić's dismissal to the Council of Ministers of BiH. In the only document they sent to the Ministry of Security of BiH and Minister Nenad Nešić, they invited the Council of Ministers of BiH to consider the possibility of dismissal, also taking into account his request for dismissal.

However, considering the structure of the Independent Board and that certain members are close to HDZ structures, it is clear why the Independent Board did not act differently, even though it was their obligation.

The President of the Independent Board, Enes Obralija, told the show Mreža (FTV) last week that he is ready to request the initiation of disciplinary proceedings at the next NO session in order to resolve Galić's status as soon as possible and dismiss him from duty.

On September 15th, the Minister of Security of BiH, Nenad Nešić, stated on the show Istraga sedmice that they are looking for a way to dismiss Galić because the Independent Board did not propose the measure of termination of employment, which was their obligation.

"If you ask me personally, I would also like to dismiss him, not just relieve him of duty, because that would send a message," said Nešić.

Although there was an agreement that the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Security, and the Legislation Office would find a way to dismiss Galić, and SIPA provided Nešić with the attendance records, no new meeting has taken place, leaving this process in a state of dormancy.

Therefore, it is up to Nešić to submit this act to the Ministry of Justice and the Legislation Office, and for the Council of Ministers of BiH to finally dismiss the fugitive from duty.
