Former BiH Presidency Member: Borislav Paravac Charged with Crimes in Doboj

 

The BiH Prosecutor's Office has indicted four individuals for crimes committed against Bosniak and Croat populations in the Doboj and Teslić areas, reports the Patria News Agency. 

Former BiH Presidency member Borislav Paravac, along with Milan Ninković, Andrija Bjelošević, and Milan Savić, have been charged with participation in a widespread and systematic attack from May 1992 to the end of 1993.

As announced by the BiH Prosecutor's Office, Paravac was the president at the time, and Ninković was a member of the Crisis Staff of the Doboj municipality, Bjelošević was the head of the Public Security Center (CSB) Doboj, while Savić was his deputy.

“The accused are charged with organized attacks by the army, police, and paramilitary formations on settlements and villages inhabited by the Bosniak and Croat population, during which civilians were killed and captured and taken to camps at several locations in the Doboj area,” the Prosecutor's Office statement reads.

It is added that hundreds of civilians were killed in the persecution, and thousands of people were imprisoned in camps where they were abused. The Prosecutor's Office also charges them with the destruction of a large number of religious and cultural objects in the Doboj and Teslić areas.

Paravac was a member of the BiH Presidency between 2003 and 2006. The indictment has been forwarded to the BiH Court for confirmation, writes BIRN.
