Former director of Sarajevo-šume Nermin Demirović's pre-trial detention lifted, travel restrictions imposed

(Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo has lifted the pre-trial detention and imposed travel restrictions on Nermin Demirović, former director of Sarajevo-šume, suspected of abuse of office or authority in the case "Ibro Berilo and others", Istraga.ba has learned.

Demirović was previously arrested by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) as part of the "Incitat" operation in a case related to systemic corruption in the construction sector and money laundering.

In addition to him, Ibro Berilo, Nađa Milišić, Adis Mulaosmanović, and Edina Džigal were also arrested.

In August, the Court ordered one month of pre-trial detention for Demirović, and at today's hearing, the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton proposed that the pre-trial detention measure be replaced with other measures – prohibition of leaving Ilijaš and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and mandatory reporting to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, which the Court accepted, in accordance with Article 140, Paragraph 1 of the Law on Criminal Procedure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Demirović is not allowed to leave his home without prior court approval.

In addition, he is prohibited from undertaking any business activities in Sarajevo-šume and any contact, direct or through an intermediary, with the suspects Ibro Berilo, Nađa Milišić, Adis Mulaosmanović, and any employee of Sarajevo-šume.

The restrictive measures may last as long as necessary, and for a maximum of until the verdict becomes final.
