Bishop Franjo Komarica: Croats lack support from their political representatives

ZAGREB, (Patria) - Bishop of Banja Luka Franjo Komarica said that the Diocese of Banja Luka has suffered more than any other diocese in Europe. „I was not killed, but my priests and faithful were killed, the faithful were expelled. We are all silent, we have all known this for 25 years, Zagreb, Brussels, Washington know“, said the bishop on HRT, as reported by Patria. He stated that in 75 parishes there are barely 8,000 Catholics, down from 220,000 before 1992. 

„92 percent of Croats were expelled from Republika Srpska. We disappeared before the eyes of politicians and the public. I ask, is this normal?“, said Komarica.

Bishop Komarica questioned how it is possible that out of the vast amount of money received from the European Union, only 3 percent was allocated for the return of Croats. 

Asked how Croats live today in that area, the bishop replies: It is a nursing home - all that remains for them is pride and hope. Komarica said that Croats unfortunately do not have the support of their political representatives.

He revealed that certain politicians in Brussels, in response to his pleas to help the country, told him that they do not need a state of law but controlled chaos.

With sadness he says that the emigrated Croats are for him living dead because every person has within themselves a desire for freedom and love for their birthplace. You can kill a person in two ways, by physically liquidating them, and by taking away their right to an identity card, identity…, that is terrible, that is unacceptable, said Bishop Komarica.

"The Croatian Constitution states that Croatia must take care of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Not to command the state of Bosnia, but to help ensure the rule of law there", said Bishop Komarica.
