Bileća man smuggled cigarettes in fish transport tank

The East Sarajevo Public Security Center filed a report with the East Sarajevo District Prosecutor's Office against R.S., on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal trade, reports the Patria news agency.

Based on previously collected operational information that illegal transport of tobacco products was being carried out from the Herzegovina area, on September 13/14, 2015, in the town of Trnovo, police officers stopped a Mercedes truck driven by R.S. from Bileća.

After inspection, it was determined that the cargo area contained two tanks intended for fish transport. During the inspection, it was found that one of them contained about 300 kg of river fish for which the driver had the necessary documentation, while the other tank contained a certain amount of tobacco products, cigarettes of various brands, for which the named individual did not possess accompanying documentation.

Based on the consent of the duty prosecutor and acting on the oral order of the preliminary proceedings judge of the Sokolac Basic Court, a search of the said truck was conducted, and 1,239 boxes of various types of cigarettes, worth about 30,000 KM, were found and seized.

The report was filed due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that the named individual did not have authorization to trade, for the purpose of selling the said items, the RS Ministry of Interior announced.
