Bijeljina no longer hides from citizens where money is spent

Based on the decision of Mayor Ljubiša Petrović, starting today, the official website of the city of Bijeljina will provide the public with an overview of daily financial transactions carried out by the City Administration.

Thanks to this innovation, introduced by Mayor Ljubiša Petrović, every citizen will be able, after a few clicks, to access data on payments for goods, services, works, salaries, social benefits, credit obligations, subsidies, scholarships, and all other allocations from the city budget.

Mayor Petrović believes that this move will enable the public to have insight into the flow of public money, better discussion on ways of spending budget funds, and also increase the accountability of public office holders.

"This is not a big job for our services, but it will, I hope, be an important step towards the rule of law, preventing abuse of power, systemic corruption, and conflict of interest. Our goal is to make the flow of public money completely transparent, in order to build greater trust of citizens in local government and, at the same time, increase the efficiency of its work – points out the Mayor of Bijeljina, Ljubiša Petrović.
