(Patria) - As a lawyer with many years of experience, both at work and in everyday life, she advocates for social justice and a humane relationship among people. Her goal is to contribute to the development and prosperity of the community through transparency, responsibility, and innovative ideas.
Her name is Dijana Bijedić and she is second on the Democratic Front list for the Municipal Council of Novo Sarajevo.
She joined the DF because this party is multi-ethnic and advocates for Bosnia and Herzegovina as a state where full human rights and freedoms are respected throughout its territory.
She believes that together we can further improve Novo Sarajevo, making it a desirable municipality to live in for all citizens.
What motivated you to get involved in politics, what is the main goal of your political activity?
My entry into politics was motivated by the current state of our society, which is not at an enviable level.
As a citizen who was not politically affiliated before, I tried to participate in creating safer and better living conditions in our community by contacting the municipality and ministries with inquiries and suggestions. Unfortunately, I often did not receive a response, or the responses indicated a lack of willingness to improve the situation.
My political activity is aimed at returning politics to its true meaning, which is social good and public interest.
You have stepped out of your comfort zone, entered a ring where the male gender still has primacy; it is declaratively called for greater participation of women in politics, how beneficial is this for society as a whole, not just for women?
I believe that women generally bring stability to our society in all segments, therefore women in politics bring a positive energy and, as the pillar of every stable family, I am convinced that they know how to make better quality decisions and ensure better implementation of decisions and projects.
You are recognized as a person who advocates for social justice and a humane relationship among people in life, what specifically can be done in the local community in this regard?
For me, the topics of social justice and a humane attitude towards people are extremely important. I believe that the priority of my work should be focused on the socially vulnerable categories of society, fellow citizens with disabilities, and children. It is necessary to provide financial support for the socially vulnerable, enable fellow citizens with disabilities to move freely in our municipality by adapting conditions to their needs, and regularly provide scholarships to children based on clearly defined criteria.
What has Dijana Bijedić learned from her father Miro Lazović, which of his thoughts and messages inspire you the most?
From my father, I learned the most about humanity and principledness. I learned to treat every person with great respect, because each of us deserves it, regardless of social status, education, nationality, political, or any other affiliation.
Growing up with my dad, I realized that politics is exclusively a struggle for social and state interests, not for the realization of personal interests.
How does a mother, a lawyer, a working woman find the motivation to act in the broader interest? What are your priorities in your work if you receive a mandate from the citizens?
If the citizens give me their trust, my priorities, as I have already stated, will be focused on the socially vulnerable categories of society, fellow citizens with disabilities, and children. In addition to the above, my work will focus on traffic safety, especially for our child pedestrians as road users, on the cleanliness of the municipality, on the construction and regular maintenance of children's playgrounds, etc.
I want to be available to every fellow citizen for ideas, suggestions, and proposals, so that together we can make our municipality more beautiful, with better and more organized living conditions.
