Bihać: The "Beast" That Mauled Halid (2) Has Not Yet Been Put Down!?

The bloodthirsty Rottweiler that attacked and injured two-and-a-half-year-old Halid Čović at a bus station in Bihać just over a month and a half ago still has not been euthanized and is being held at the veterinary station in Bihać. It is unclear when or if the aggressive dog will be killed at all, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The director of the Veterinary Station in Bihać, Zekerijah Alagić, told Patria that employees have been caring for the dog for over a month. The dog is very aggressive and poses a danger to both employees and other dogs in the shelter.

The dog also fell ill a few days ago. Veterinarians had to make maximum efforts to treat it, so as not to be suspected of intentionally killing it, which, legally speaking, could mean serious trouble for them.

The final decision on when the dog will be euthanized should be made by the Veterinary Inspectorate of the Una-Sana Canton, but the entire legal procedure is moving quite slowly, which has angered both the veterinarians at the Veterinary Station and the citizens of Bihać.

The biggest obstacle in all of this is a legal barrier. The dog has an owner, and before the dog is euthanized, its owner should appear at the Veterinary Station in Bihać. However, a certain Samira H., the dog's owner, is behaving arrogantly and refuses to cooperate.

The police have also filed a criminal report against Samira H.

We recall that at the end of January, at the bus station in Bihać, while returning from Sarajevo where she had been visiting relatives, the aggressive dog tore the sleepy Halid from the arms of Sabina Čović and began biting him.
The dog dragged the boy and threw him around the street. The mother tried to save her son, but the enraged dog also attacked her.

Fortunately, a group of young men happened to pass by at that moment, who managed to drive the dog away, and they took Sabina and little Halid to the emergency room.

The boy then received 13 stitches on his cheek and several on his leg.
