The Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation from the USA and the Family Memorial Foundation Ltd., in cooperation with the Center for Dialogue - Vesatijja, are organizing a seminar on the prevention of genocide and mass atrocities at the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo from March 19 to 21, reports the Patria news agency.
The organizers will introduce participants to the concept of genocide and its connection to the broader category of war crimes, training a global communication network for state leaders and creators of political will who will be tasked with working on the prevention of genocide and war crimes in the world.
- We believe that preventing genocide and mass atrocities is achievable – the organizers state.
For Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is important that the country gains a network of capable community leaders and equips them with professional tools to prevent genocide and mass atrocities through their efforts.
The desire of the seminar organizers in Sarajevo is to include all communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina - religious, state, academic, and civil society - and work with them to create a network of organizations that will educate and act in the spirit of preventing genocide and mass atrocities, reports NAP.
