BiH Committed to Finding Joint Solutions for the Refugee Crisis

Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić participated in a conference of EU and Western Balkan foreign and interior ministers in Luxembourg, where possible solutions to the refugee crisis were discussed, which has been the main security and humanitarian challenge facing these countries in recent months. The conference was chaired by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and the Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn. 

Representatives of the BiH delegation emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is committed to finding solutions to the crisis and is ready to accept and implement all joint solutions agreed upon at the EU level.   

The attending ministers were informed about the preparations of BiH institutions for a potential mass influx of refugees, i.e., for reception and ensuring transit if the current corridor shifts towards BiH territory. 

Mektić pointed out the importance of regional cooperation in resolving this crisis, with the aim of timely information exchange and better security checks, but also to avoid possible incidents at borders. He used this high-level meeting to discuss these challenges and the search for joint solutions with ministers and representatives of delegations from neighboring countries.
