BiH has lost 56,000 workers since 2013, craftsmen and medical staff most sought after

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Agency for Labor and Employment of BiH is currently mediating in the employment of BiH citizens abroad in two countries – the Republic of Slovenia and the Federal Republic of Germany. While employment in Slovenia is conducted through the Agency for Labor and Employment of BiH, for Germany the Agency has a permit to mediate only persons who have completed secondary medical school in general or pediatric direction, who have passed a professional exam in BiH and have knowledge of German at a minimum B1 level, according to the European Reference Framework for Languages, confirmed for the Patria News Agency from the Agency for Labor and Employment of BiH.

"All persons who go to work abroad through the Agency for Labor and Employment of BiH are properly deregistered from the unemployment bureau, and have rights at work in the said countries as well as domestic labor in those countries. For persons who go abroad outside the Agency for Labor and Employment of BiH, we have no data because those persons are not obliged to register their departure anywhere," state from the Agency.

In the current implementation of the Agreement on the Employment of Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Republic of Slovenia, workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina with occupations from several fields were most sought after. From 2013 to the end of 2019, 50,580 work permits were issued, with the largest number issued in 2018 and 2019.

Among the most sought-after workers are: drivers (various categories including international transport) about 25% of ads, welders about 25% of ads, reinforcement workers, bricklayers, electrical installers, locksmiths, facade workers, construction workers.

When it comes to medical professionals, from 2013 to the end of 2019, 5,235 work permits were issued. And in 2020, 86 work permits have already been issued.
