BiH still has no agreement with the Islamic Community: Bećirović asked those responsible - is a new evil being prepared in BiH!

Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed agreements with two religious communities in the country – the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, while the one with the Islamic Community is still pending. According to the latest information, the Draft Agreement prepared by the Council of Ministers is still being harmonized in the Presidency of BiH, Patria reports.

It was precisely this issue that Denis Bećirović (SDP) raised today at the session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

- What is the problem for BiH to get such an agreement and who is creating obstacles on that path. This is based on the Convention on Human Rights, the Constitution of BiH, and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. I expect Chairman Denis Zvizdić to answer that question – said Bećirović.

Given that Zvizdić is in Brussels today, this question was answered by Semiha Borovac, Minister of Human Rights in the Council of Ministers of BiH.

- It is known that our country concluded an international agreement with the Holy See and a basic agreement with the Orthodox Church in 2008. At the initiative of the Presidency of BiH, and by a conclusion of the Council of Ministers, an identical procedure was established with the Islamic Community. Negotiations were conducted, with significant delays, but they were revived and concluded in 2015. A Draft Basis of the Agreement was established and submitted on October 22, 2015, to the Presidency of BiH for further action. According to the latest information from yesterday from the Presidency of BiH, the harmonization is still ongoing – Borovac pointed out.

Bećirović said that the minister presented the sequence of events, but that he wants to express extreme dissatisfaction in this area.

- That it is still being harmonized can last indefinitely. It is obvious that one people is being denied nation, language, and religion. There are people from SNSD in the RS who no longer use the term Bosniaks but say Muslims, wanting to reduce one people to a religious community. Language is also being denied, as is the state. When you deny someone their religion, nation, and language, that is preparation for a new evil in BiH. Responsible people must say this publicly – said Bećirović.
