BiH the only country in Europe without a unified number 112!

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - New cars and vehicles have a system that as soon as airbags are activated due to an accident, they connect to number 112 and report the vehicle's location. This can lead to saving the lives of traffic participants. BiH, along with Albania, is the only country in Europe that has not introduced the unified European emergency number!

Precisely because of new technologies, a representative in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Mirsad Đonlagić, asked whether the unified number 112 for emergencies throughout BiH has been accepted, and if not, when can it be expected to be adopted?

There is no answer from the Council of Ministers as to when BiH might finally get the number 112, but they did respond that on April 18, 2018, the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly rejected the request of the Constitutional-Legal Committee of this house, which sought an extension for providing an opinion on the Bill amending the Communications Law.

- The minutes from this session of the House of Peoples state that the legislative procedure on this Bill has been suspended - said the Council of Ministers.

Unlike the delegates of the House of Peoples, the deputies of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted amendments to the Communications Law that provide for the introduction of the unified number 112 for emergencies throughout the territory of BiH.

Although it should have been introduced long ago, as a candidate country for EU membership, BiH still does not have a unified emergency call system established.

Delegates and representatives of SNSD believe that the Council of Ministers exceeded its authority by proposing amendments to the Communications Law that deal with the introduction of the number 112! They claim that in this case, competencies are being transferred from the entities to the state of BiH.
