Vice President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH Bruno Bojić warned that the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska must urgently harmonize legislation related to foreign investments. This would make it easier for foreign investors to invest and do business in our country, which could ultimately lead to more investments in BiH and a better, more stable economy.
In an interview with the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP), Bojić confirmed that the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH receives calls from foreign investors criticizing that the incentives in Banja Luka and Zenica are not the same, even though it is the same country. This, Bojić says, is confusing and irritating for investors, especially those coming from European Union countries.
- Unharmonized legislation at the BiH level makes us appear unserious to potential investors, as well as to those who already are, which directly affects investments in our country - Bojić warned.
He believes that BiH, compared to the region, is an extremely favorable country for foreign investors. First of all, he says, BiH has a stable currency (convertible mark), a lower value-added tax (VAT), and a more favorable profit tax. However, we lack harmonized and simpler legislation.
- No one disputes the existence of entities; we are not interfering with that part. But we warn that if we want more foreign money in BiH, the legislation between FBiH and RS must be harmonized, that is, it must be aligned with that of the European Union - says Bojić, writes Patria.
